Setting: A Summer in Paradise
Wellspring Hawaii is like no other place in the world. Based at a secluded retreat on the slopes of Mauna Kea, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the lush, verdant grounds provide a breathtaking environment full of opportunities for new and exciting activities.
Our island home is the beautiful Tara Center. Accommodations are dormitory style with bunks and futons and semi-private baths in an assortment of new, modern, island bungalows and refurbished historic buildings surrounding a main courtyard. The big dining hall and spacious classroom and exercise room round out the facility. Tara is the focal point of daily activities, nutrition and culinary education, and our clinical program, as well as our launching point for trips to explore all of Hawaii’s incredible geography.
In addition, every few days, campers depart Tara on adventure expeditions to explore the wonders of the Big Island. As activity is a hallmark of Wellspring Hawaii, we never stay still for very long!
The Wellspring Hawaii staff is comprised of committed, experienced counselors, many of whom have been with Wellspring or Wellspring Academies, formerly Academy of the Sierras for years. All of us are ready to have fun on Hawaii’s great beaches, trails, mountains, and with the unique Hawaiian culture. Wellspring professionals are dedicated, highly motivated role models with extensive experience working with teens.
Wellspring Hawaii’s distinctive environment provides a safe, secluded setting for learning about healthy living and enjoying an active lifestyle against the backdrop of some of the most spectacular scenery on earth.
